Introduced, extent in Alberta unknown. Difficult to distinguish from the native var. lanulosa (The pictures here may be either or both). Taxonomy is not clear and it's not easy to separate native from introduced populations. Flora of North America treats it all as a single variable species. Still, it is often seen along trails, but not away from them in similar habitat, and does tend to increase with disturbance, both of which suggest expanding range.
