Common in the Oldman River valley in Lethbridge. Often colonizes disturbed gravelly soils. Also found along the South and North Saskatchewan rivers, and there are small infestations in Dinosaur Provincial Park.

Common in Calgary on disturbed gravelly sites.

This plant has been reported for its' weediness in the Provost and High Level areas. - Jim Broatch

Definitely aggressive and difficult to control in pasture situations. - Normand Boulet

Common and widespread in the City of Red Deer, and not restricted to disturbed areas. Found in approximately 17% of sampled sites(N=1400). Noted as "abundant" in 10 locations.

Undisturbed plant communities are somewhat resistant to infestation by Artemesia. --Tony Blake 13:33, 11 April 2009 (CDT)

Grown as a crop in BC, for production of Absinth ("Of course one should not drink much, but often." --- Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec)
