Dactylis glomerata

From RoguesGallery

Legend for Species Pages

[edit] Orchardgrass

Dactylis glomerata L.

Originally introduced as a forage species for livestock. Also sometimes used in reclamation. It is non-rhizomatous, spreading solely by seed. It has fairly high moisture requirements, and is thus not expected to invade native habitats in the arid southeastern part of the province. It is sometimes found invading native habitats in other parts of the province, including grasslands and forests in the foothills. However, when observed in native habitats, it never appears to be very abundant.
