What to do?

From RoguesGallery

There are already widespread infestations of invasive alien species in Alberta natural areas. If you are managing a natural area for preservation, or for sustainable agricultural use, the presence of any of them is a challenge. Small patches of known invasive aliens in otherwise pristine areas should be eliminated promptly! Larger colonies should be managed for containment, if not elimination. Bear in mind that otherwise normal disturbance may trigger an alien takeover, if conditions are suitable, that could throw succession off-course and permanently preclude the pre-existing climax condition.

Where there are large infestations, any intervention risks unexpected and unwanted consequences. Small infestations can be eradicated with little effort and risk of consequent harm when compared with attempts to eliminate large infestations.

If herbicides are contemplated, first read the ANPC Policy on use of herbicides [1]
