Becoming common in S Alberta, forms dense patches (visit Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park). Rare 20 years ago. In a given area, can expand from a single introduction to become fairly common in 5 years.
Catnip is a perennial. It produces many brown to black ellipsoidal seeds 1 mm or so long. Both the foliage and flowers are aromatic. Some brands of dried catnip include only leaves and stems, but others include flowers and fruit as well, with lots of seed.
